Hi friends 😀
I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far!
Friday I had a pretty amazing – short but fast – lunch run with my running buddy Kim 🙂 I always enjoy running with her because she challenges me and I love it! Also running by the river is always so pretty and relaxing … (I don’t know why my map shows we run IN the river and not BY the river though… LOL!)
Things are pretty quite around here this weekend. The weather was pretty awful all rainy and very windy yesterday, and since i didn’t really want to have a remake of our good ol’ favourite movie “Mary Poppins” I decided to have my long run today. We also had a few good friends over for lunch yesterday- I was so happy to catch up with those guys, we always have a blast together 😀
So fast forward to Sunday morning… I woke up to a beautiful sunshine – a little windy but not too bad. I was SO excited to get up and go run!! So here I am putting on my running clothes while munching on a banana and mentally prepare myself for my 11 mile run. I kissed sleepy mr. @mymamus goodbye and headed to the front door to put on … “oh wait??!?! Where the hell are my running shoes?!?!” Whoops!!
One pair of running shoes is enough SAID NO RUNNER EVER!! So why do I only have one? Well, believe me when I tell you my running shoe collection used to be quite extensive but then my PhD offer came along and we had to leave my beloved NYC to move to London. And this —>
Is where I had to fit 5 years of my life! Total count; 4 suitcases, 2 carry-ons and 2 backpacks for 2 people. Well needless to say I had some hard decisions to make … 😦
Now, after coming across the pond i decided that it was time to buy a few essentials such as 2 pairs of running shoes (to begin with…) and some new running clothes. Then disaster hits… A month and half after we moved here I started getting some really (and I mean REALLY) weird and itchy spots in my arms and legs… simply terrifying! Long story short and after a few visits to the ER –> Bedbugs! To which i’m quite allergic as it turns out! Well this is a story for another time but the outcome was that everything – and I do mean EVERYTHING! – had to go through the washing/dryer at very very high temps… So that was the end of my two new pairs of running shoes 😦 Needless to say they didn’t survive…
*End of back story*
So now we fast forward to today’s bug free and very happy household 😀
Here I am all ready and my (one and only pair of) running shoes are nowhere to be found. And of course it hits me… I left them at work. After my run on Friday they never made it into my backpack… 😦 😦 Oh the disappointment… I got pretty sad about it I have to admit so I took my pouting face and on I go back to bed where sleepy @mymamus was quite surprised to see me…
Well my disappointment didn’t last long since we decided that even though I couldn’t go for a run we would go to the park either way and enjoy the sunny – and as it turned out quite cold – day and a coffee…
So even though I didn’t run, I still got to enjoy the sunny Sunday with my favourite company 🙂 Win! And I will just rearrange my week a little bit so I can fit in my long run tomorrow coming back from work 🙂 No biggie… But I am in need of another pair of running shoes that is a given!
So what is in store for the rest of the day? A little bit of food prep and then my favourite strength workout in place of my run.
Have a great rest of your Sunday everyone 😀
