So week #1 from my marathon training is done! Exciting stuff! I have to admit it was a little harder than I thought it will be… It’s crazy how your fitness levels go out the window if you don’t train for a little while. I mean I was running during my vacation of course but it was only for fun! No paces, times, watch or even music, just me and the forest or the beach.
But let’s have a look at how this week went down, shall we?
Tuesday: 6.2 miles @10:23
Thursday: 5 x 1000 RI 3:00 (plus w/u and c/d of about 1 mile)
Saturday: Well this day went totally NOT as planned – thanks life 😉 I set out for my first long run but by the time I was 1/3 in I just felt so horrible!! Like I couldn’t take one more step… Head pounding, legs were heavy… So -obviously – I cut it short. Thought that didn’t happen before I tried really, really, hard to push through and keep going… But some times your body has other plans. So let’s try this again 🙂 Saturday: 3.38 miles @ 10:10 average pace. I think the reason for me feeling like this, was bad fuelling/timing. So I decided to not make the same mistake the next morning (fyi I only had one of those slices!)
Sunday: Long run #1 – 9.3 miles EASY @ 10:41 average pace. My brother is visiting us this week and he biked along with me for the whole 9.3 miles (15km).
According to my training plan (for the next 3 weeks at least) I will be running 4 times a week. And hoping to get in at least 1 session of cross-training a week, which didn’t exactly happen this week…
