Giving London a chance…

I always try to be honest here and this time is no difference. And even though it is not #FridayTruths time I do have a few truths to share 🙂

ALERT – not a fitness related post so it’s totally OK to be bored to read about me mumbling away 😉

It has been a few tough days around here lately. This past weekend @mymamus and I started a conversation – you know one of those eye opening ones that happen once in a while in every relationship… the ones that aren’t always easy but they do always worth it… This made me rethink a few things and re-evaluate. So here are some of those thoughts 🙂

When we first moved to London (about a year and half ago) I had absolutely no expectations from this city. Coming from New York – for me one of the most amazing places on the planet!!! – I knew that it would be hard to love anything else as much but I did promise myself to try and have an open mind. Well I completely messed up and broke this promise… I am so sorry London, it’s not you it’s me!

I admit that I never gave London the fighting chance it deserves.

I admit that missing NY made me (literally hate) everything about London.

I admit that this turned me into a pretty miserable person who all I did was complain day in day out about everything I didn’t like.

Well, I admit that this is OVER now! I am not sure how I got here, I used to absolutely love new adventures and I used to always see everything in life as an amazing opportunity. Somewhere along this journey of mine though, I think I lost sight of what matters the most… So thank you @mymamus ❤ for this eye opening conversation!

screen-shot-2017-01-18-at-08-22-51So I promised myself that from now on I WILL give London the chance it deserves because I am sure it’ll live up to the challenge 😉 I might have forgotten for a bit to be grateful for all the experiences I’ve gained, the amazing people I met and the fact that I have an incredible job, that allows me to be independent and creative everyday but not anymore and not ever again 🙂

So I might not be able to run for the time being, but I sure as hell can walk! And London, I am about to walk the hell out of you and find out all of your secrets 😉 This week its the first time since we moved away from the states that I feel like myself again, I feel like the girl I used to be, the adventurous girl, the fighter, the girl who sees opportunities where others see problems ❤ 😀

I believe an apology is in order…

To London, I am sorry I hated you for the past year (apart from the “tube” which I still hate 😉 ) you are an interesting and beautiful place!

To all my friends here, I am sorry I’ve been this person that no one likes because all she does is complain all the time and thank you for sticking it out with me. I ‘ve met people here that I know they will be friends for life…

To @mymamus, you rock 😉 – I know i am too stubborn and thank you for having the patience to make me listen 😉 😛

To all of you, thank you everyone for following my journey, you have been an amazing support network!!

To me, I am sorry for not letting you fly and be yourself all this time! Go ahead…

#FridayTruths

Hello people !!! And happy -almost- weekend 🙂

I hope everyone (who celebrates) had an amazing time yesterday ❤ Our Thanksgiving dinner will take place on Sunday since yesterday was a working day for us here in the UK.

So, a few #FridayTruths to share with you today!

1.Got an awesome email yesterday telling me that @taleoftworuns‘s comment on “The science museum” was featured on TIME OUT London!!!! OMG yes! I was ecstatic!! I mean occupational hazard right??? Also do have a look at the article I think it is pretty cool if you are planning to visit/move to London.

2.I order my planner for 2017. Anyone who knows me, knows my absolute ❤ for stationary AND notebooks/planners. I was looking for something VERY specific since I got tired of carrying around 2 different ones – one for science work and one for blog stuff – and I didnt find anything to suit my needs. So after reading quite a few reviews I ended up in this website and made my own planner. It looks pretty amazing – on the screen – and I ordered it today. You get to personalize EVERYTHING! From the covers, to the layouts and to what you ‘d like it to include – to do lists, weekly meal plan etc – and it was ONLY £22 ($27)!! Can’t wait for it to arrive next week. Here is a little preview 😉

3.My eating has been completely off the rails… but oh well…. I mean why can’t I have two donuts or cupcakes after dinner right ?!?!? Just kidding… Marathon is over so after Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday i am pulling myself together and getting both my eating and sleeping back on track!

4.And… I miss this girl (and NYC). Hopefully I’ll get to feel the way I felt back then again soon… Step number one, get my body back to how it used to be 😉

5. Post-marathon thoughts and plans… Well I am still working on that. I feel a little “purposeless” but i think giving myself a few weeks of running/exercising was much needed! Promise I’ll put all my thoughts here and share soon…

#FridayTruths & BELFAST bound!!!!

WOW what a week…!

I have plenty of awesome (and random) things to share with you all 🙂

First of all,

our 5km virtual run was over last week. I think it was a big success and both Andreea and I had so much fun organizing it and running it! We decided to run it with all the awesome ladies from Spinal research on Monday (Halloween) at lunch time!

We had an amazing time, we run and laughed and raised money for a great cause!

Next random fact, my good friend Neela sent me these photos yesterday… These weird circular thingies are called Jalebi. It is honey covered dipped fried batter, and it used to be a favourite of mine when I was in NYC…   Yummy!!

Ok, and finally…. the big news!

(drum roll sound!!!!!!!!!!)

THIS WEEKEND I AM OFF TO BELFAST!!!!!! Excited a little?!?!? LOL!

Corey, Helen and myself are invited by the awesome people from Decathlon (remember my last event? Where @mymamus wanted to have my head on a platter afterwards?? yeah…this one!) to run their 10km race there this Sunday!! I am so excited to visit Belfast and have some quality girls time!

#FridayTruths

So I was in the subway – or the “tube” as Londoners call it – this morning on my way to work – and about 25 mins late – and I was thinking…

I like Fridays (who doesn’t LOL?) and this is the day when I usually catch myself kinda thinking about my week, doing my “mental” calculations of how my  week has been… Likes, dislikes, troubles.

The hardest part for all people – to my opinion – is not to be honest with other people, since that can be done by omission …. is to be honest with themselves. About things we are worried about, things that scare us, even things we would like to downright gloat about and we think it might give the wrong impression…

So I decided on a new weekly post – #FridayTruths 🙂 – And maybe take it a step further, and  turn it into a link up soon 🙂 – thoughts on that???? !!

Truths — here we go!

⊗ Seven years ago I met a girl 🙂 And we hit it off immediately. the last time I saw her was when I met her… but we kept in touch all those years. Just one of those friendships where it doesn’t really matter how often you see each other in person… She visited London with her boyfriend last week and they stayed over with @mymamus and I 🙂 It was aweosme to see her again ❤

⊗ Because of a nasty cold I didn’t run for 10 days straight… I feel like this totally screwed up my marathon training 😦

⊗ Had one of the WORST runs ever last night… 2.7 miles and EVERYTHING was sore and stiff

⊗  I have totally let go of my marathon goal A – which was a 4hr time… and I have gracefully moved on to goal B – just finish the damn thing…. – that one was a hard Screen Shot 2016-03-05 at 12.50.57one to admit 😦

 

⊗ Marathon training is HARD and I am sick of it…. I know it sounds harsh and I know I shouldn’t complain since I chose to do it but it is a TRUTH!

 

⊗ Being in London doesn’t suck as much as it did suck this time of the year last year… 😀

⊗ @mymamus and I had our first event together 😀 😀 – and I am just grateful to be alive LOL! I did promise him there would be no running just fun stuff…well that wasn’t exactly the case and after we were done he totally wanted to KILL ME!!
